博士論文賞について
岩の力学連合会では、岩の力学もしくは岩盤工学の分野における国際的に通用する優れた若手研究者の研究成果を評価し奨励することを目的として、「博士論文賞」を設けております。受賞は1件とし、受賞論文を岩の力学連合会の推薦として「Rochaメダル2025」に応募します。当該期間に博士論文を提出された、あるいは、提出を予定されている方は、本「博士論文賞」への応募を是非ご検討ください。なお、Rochaメダルへは、岩の力学連合会以外の推薦でも応募可能です。
応募について
1）応募資格
2022年1月1日～2023年12月31日の期間に学位が授与された、または授与される見込みの、岩の力学連合会正会員または学生会員とします。応募時点で非会員の方は入会申請をお願いします。
2）応募期限
2023年9月30日 必着
3）応募方法
①～⑤の書類を必要部数そろえて、岩の力学連合会事務局まで電子データをメールに添付もしくは大容量ストレージを活用して提出してください。メールに添付される際には，容量が５MB 以下になるようにしてください。それ以上となる場合には、大容量ストレージを活用ください。提出書類に不備がある場合には欠格となることがあります。

③ 履歴書（自由書式, 英文, A4一枚）
④ 学位授与証明書（英文, スキャンデータ可。取得見込みの場合は後日提出）

4）英文サマリーの作成に当たって
下記のRochaメダル募集要項（https://isrm.net/page/show/137?tab=288より入手可能）の記載事項を参照して作成してください。
「a thesis summary, written in English, with between 5,000 and 10,000 words, detailed enough to convey the full impact of the thesis and accompanied by selected tables and figures, and information on word count;」
選考について
1）選考方法
岩の力学連合会賞選考委員会・博士論文賞選考小委員会で行います。なお、選考上必要のあるときは、さらに関係資料の提出を求めることがあります。
ISRM By-Law No.7の4(f)に示された下記の5つの評価基準に重点を置き、選考を行います。
- Problem statement – Issue that needs solving and why (10%): Why does this problem need to be solved? How would a solution help in rock mechanics and/or rock engineering?
- Appreciation of State of the Art (10%): Quality of literature review and bibliography, awareness of pertinent previous research, ability to convey concisely the state of the art, insight, etc.
- Theoretical and/or practical advancements (35%): Description and explanation of the way in which the thesis advances the state of the art.
- Verification of proposed solution (35%): Description and explanation of how the results have been checked via laboratory and/or field experiments, or other means.
- Quality of Presentation (10%): Format, use of headings, style, clarity, clarity of introduction and conclusions, etc.
2）表彰
社員総会において表彰を行います。受賞者には、賞状、楯を授与します。また、受賞された方には、社員総会において講演発表を行っていただきます。

「Rocha Medal」について
Rochaメダルは、毎年岩盤力学の分野で貢献された若い研究者に対して贈られる名誉ある賞で、1982年当時のISRM総裁の名前より命名、制定されたものです。Rochaメダル受賞資格は、博士号をこの2年間で審査・取得された方が条件となっています。2010年からはRochaメダル受賞者のほかに、次点者についても表彰されることになっています。
